Once again I am delighted to be asked to take part in the Bolton Food and Drink festival 2016.     patricia-matthews Food and drink

At 1pm in the Lecture theatre one I will be chatting about GAR and childhood memories and we will be sampling recipes  from the GAR cookbook with a cuppa.

Do you remember ‘Turning the Mangle, waking up with ‘Ice and frost on the inside of your windows, or donkey stoning the step or childhood memories like that?

Then that’s the type of afternoon in store for you to enjoy.

 As a follow up to the success of the ‘Book Signing with a difference’ Matthew Watson from  the Bolton museum asked if he could exhibit the Grandma’s Antique Recipe book as part of  their  exhibition of the Great War 1914-1918.   The Grandmas Antique recipe book is displayed along with other memorabilia  for the public to view.

On November 11th     Bolton remembers the War,  Bolton Library and Museums are planning an event to mark Armistice Day and the centenary of the First World War.  

At 2.00 – 2.30pm

Words of War.  a play by ‘On The Go Theatre Company’.

This powerful new play tells the story of young men from Bolton experiencing the First World War at first hand as Grandpa Norman  and many others must have done.

                                                                                    2.30 – 2.45pm  Refreshments


 2.45 –  3.30pm     There will be a screening of North West Film Archive film on:  The First World  War:         

‘Life on the Home Front in North West England’.
